EDWARD JONES FINANCIAL CHRISTMAS DONATION DRIVE

Reclaimed43 is a local mentor program supporting young adults as they leave the foster care system and start adulthood. It was started by a young woman who was a teenager in foster care here in Lubbock, TX. After bouncing around in different placements she was finally adopted out of the system at 16 years old. As she became part of a new adoptive family, church community, and eventually a college group, she watched her former foster siblings age out. They quickly fell into homelessness and poverty. She watched as they went back to their biological parents or struggled with poor relationship choices. Some even started the cycle of abuse over again with their young children. It was these stories that encouraged her to start a program to help the forgotten ones who weren't fortunate enough to be adopted.

The foundation of Reclaimed43 Mentor Program is evidence-based research on how community can end generational cycles of abuse, poverty, and neglect. The focus of the nonprofit is to redeem and reclaim the independence and belonging that years of trauma stole from these young adults. Reclaimed43 started in 2016 and currently have 10 young women in mentor relationships today.

When we asked how we can help this Christmas, many of the young women asked for bedding, laundry supplies, and gift cards for gas. Join us as we gather presents for these young women and show them what community looks like. We will be accepting in-person donations at our 66th street location or online monetary donations. Every donation will make a change in the stories of young adults in our community.
